Patrol Division
The Patrol Division is the most visible and recognizable unit of the police department, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Patrol officers are first responders who provide proactive police patrols while enforcing federal, state, local, and traffic laws. When Patrol Officers are not responding to calls for service, they ensure traffic is moving safely while preventing and deterring crimes through their visible presence within the City of Glendale.
We currently have 30 sworn personnel assigned to the patrol division. The Patrol Division is divided into three shifts. Each shift in the patrol division has one Lieutenant and two Sergeants. The patrol division works in 8 1/2-hour shift rotations with 24-hr coverage. Officers on each shift are assigned to patrol different geographical areas in the city.
